Service Area

We are based in Elizabeth City, NC (Pasquotank County) and serve Pasquotank County (Elizabeth City), Perquimans County (Hertford), and Camden County (Camden, South Mills, and surrounding communities). Long-distance medical trips to other parts of North Carolina and nearby Virginia may be available by appointment. We are also pursuing a Veterans Care Agreement with the Hampton VA Medical Center to transport veterans to VA appointments.

Yes. Long-distance medical trips to Duke, ECU Health, Vidant, Hampton VA Medical Center, and other facilities in North Carolina and nearby Virginia are available by appointment. Call us for pricing and availability.

Scheduling

Call us at 1-877-2-MEDRIDE or submit a ride request through our website. For Medicaid-covered trips, contact your health plan's transportation vendor or your county DSS to schedule. You can request Premier Medical Transit by name.

We recommend scheduling at least 3 business days in advance for routine appointments. For standing weekly rides (like dialysis), call once and we set up the recurring schedule. For urgent rides, call as soon as possible.

Yes. Standing weekly schedules are available for dialysis, therapy, and other recurring appointments. Call us once, we confirm your pickup times, and you ride on the same schedule every week without calling again.

Payment

Yes. Premier Medical Transit is an NC Medicaid enrolled NEMT provider. Eligible Medicaid members may receive transportation at no out-of-pocket cost when scheduled through the approved health plan, broker, or authorized program.

Private pay rates depend on distance, frequency, and scheduling. We offer competitive rates for single rides, recurring appointments, and standing weekly schedules. Call 1-877-2-MEDRIDE for a quote.

Medicare Part B does not cover routine non-emergency transportation. However, some Medicare Advantage plans include transportation benefits. Call us to discuss your specific plan.

Ride Experience

Our driver will arrive within your scheduled pickup window, call or text you when they are close, assist you in and out of the vehicle, and transport you safely to your appointment. For return trips, we pick you up after your appointment is complete.

Yes. Our drivers provide ambulatory assistance, which means they help you step in and out of the vehicle. We serve riders who can safely enter and exit with minimal assistance. We do not provide wheelchair or stretcher transport.

Yes. A companion or caregiver may ride with you at no additional charge. Let us know when you schedule so we can plan accordingly.

Safety

Yes. All Premier Medical Transit drivers undergo background checks, drug screening, and defensive driving training. We are HIPAA compliant and maintain all required state and federal certifications.

Yes. Our vehicles are regularly cleaned, sanitized, and inspected. We maintain all vehicles to commercial safety standards and comply with North Carolina NEMT vehicle requirements.
